Naked Truth and Resplendent Parable
The Lady Liberty Blues opens with the image of a boy in a jar whose parents are reading him a bedtime story.
The story, Naked Truth and Resplendent Parable, is taken from an anthology of Yiddish folktales edited by Beatrice Silverman Weinreich. It is available at the Seattle Public Library.

Oh cool! I love getting the background for these stories. When this thing goes into full production some day, I’d love to see story summaries in program.

Interesting…this particular story is only 4 paragraphs long, and we recite the whole thing. Do you mean you’d like to walk home with a copy of it in hand?

Do you say that it’s a Yiddish folktale? If so, I just missed it.
